As we all know the first generation was very good, one of its key features was its PLUG AND PLAY. AEM now returns with many improvements such as better drivers for the injectors, coils and outputs.

Another change for this second generation is the AEMTUNER software, if the software was good before now in this new version is more powerful and accessible. Has a complete new look and different to the previous AEMPRO. It now has a DISPLAY EXPLORER which allows a the user a simple way to open and close various pages of the software, while activating the PANES the user can get explanations of the screen you’re viewing.

The advantage overall is that all systems (hardware and software) are more robust and effective. The timing of the engine is more stable and consistent than the previous version, and also a better pulse signal from the injectors thanks to the improved drivers. Yes, you can use 12 injectors at the same time!.

You can forget about DRIVER BOXES (resistance) for the injectors. Had problems with the engine stalling at idle? Those are now things of the past, now you can have a “factory idle” even with 1600cc injectors.

Now to what you actually want to see, a REAL test of the new AEM2 EMS:

On Wednesday July 8, AEM sent us the new AEM2 EMS to be tested in the Trueno Mobil1 Boostiao.com of Isidoro de Los Santos. With AEM1 the Trueno had some respectable 667WHP @ 33 psi.

After ONLY installing the new AEM2 EMS, we proceeded to take the car to the dyno at BP Autocentro (Dynojet).

After 5 runs the Trueno left the dyno with some 716WHP @ 29 PSI , a great difference with less boost. Just for the record this 2JZ is basically a stock block, stock head with HKS cams, a BorgWarner turbo and Powerglide transmision.

That same night, we took the Trueno to the Autodromo Mobil1 Raceway looking to improve our personal best of 9.01 @ 150MPH.

Unfortunately, we had transmission problems which started to slip thanks to the new 716WHP and we went home with a 9.11 @ 150MPH , but the new horses were very noticeable, the sound and feel of the car were entirely different.

Now with the transmision problem fixed again we visited the track last July 23, and in the first pass the Trueno crossed the line with a 8.92 @ 154MPH , but we didn’t stop, we wanted more, in a second and final pass the Trueno crossed the line with a 8.86 @ 154 MPH with 1.45 at 60 feet. This sets a new personal best for the Trueno and also sets a new record for the Super Calle (Super Street) Class.

The Future of AEM2 AEM2 looks to be very promising, other of the new improvements are that it with change the pulse signal with the VE (volumetric efficiency), which is one of the way that car manufacturers use in their EMS. Here is a list of what’s new:
