What\u2019s up guys! This is Walker Wilkerson doing a guest blog from my trip to the Dominican Republic!

Llegue el viernes en la noche y no\u00a0pod\u00eda\u00a0esperar estar en la pista en la Ma\u00f1ana del\u00a0S\u00e1bado. Desde que llegue a la pista estaba muy entusiasmado por salir y manejar! El trazado de esta pista es suficientemente\u00a0r\u00e1pido, pero\u00a0tambi\u00e9n\u00a0tiene una\u00a0secci\u00f3n\u00a0t\u00e9cnica\u00a0que es lenta y estrecha, donde permite a los pilotos usar todos los aspectos del drifting y si eliges la linea incorrecta\u00a0f\u00e1cilmente\u00a0puedes salirte de la pista.<\/p>\n

I arrived Friday night and couldn\u2019t wait to go to the track Saturday morning. As soon as I got to the track I was really excited to get out there and drive. The track is a decently high-speed track but also has a slow tight technical section at the end. It really allows drivers to utilize all aspects of drifting and if you chose the wrong line you can easily set yourself up to go off course.

El primer auto que tuve el honor de conducir, fue el S15 blanco de Jochy! Aunque solo he conducido un S15 antes, me encanta absolutamente como se pueden manejar! Te permiten ser muy agresivos. Este es el S Chassis que Nissan perfecciono y el auto de Jochy no fue la\u00a0excepci\u00f3n! El S15 se\u00a0pod\u00eda\u00a0manejar muy bien!!.<\/p>\n

Ya que no hago drift a la derecha muy seguido y era mi primera vez en el Autodromo Mobil1, lo tome con calma en mis primera vueltas y luego\u00a0comenc\u00e9\u00a0a hacer unas corridas donde me\u00a0sent\u00eda\u00a0muy bien, como lo pueden ver en la foto!\u00a0Much\u00edsimas\u00a0gracias a Jochy por permitirme manejar su auto, quiero tener mi propio S15 de calle aun mas ahora! jaja!<\/p>\n

The first car I had the honor to drive was Jochy\u2019s white s15! Although I\u2019ve only ever driven one other s15 before, I absolutely love the way they handle! You can really throw them very aggressively. This is the s chassis that Nissan perfected. Jochy\u2019s car was no exception to how well s15\u2019s handle this thing drove really well!<\/p>\n

Since I don\u2019t drift RHD much and since it was my first time driving the Autodromo Mobil 1 circuit I took it easy my first few laps. I was able to get used to the car and then started to put down some runs where I felt really comfortable like in the photo above! Big thanks to Jochy for letting me drive his car, I want my own personal s15 streetcar even more now haha!

El\u00a0pr\u00f3ximo\u00a0auto que pude conducir, fue el Castrol S14 Silvia de Victor Madera!\u00a0 Aqu\u00ed\u00a0estoy presionando los botones para encenderla! Estaba listo para salir a manejar un auto con el\u00a0gu\u00eda\u00a0a la izquierda y especialmente el Silvia modificado de Victor!<\/p>\n

The next car I drove was Victor Madera Castrol s14 Silvia! Here I am hittin\u2019 the switches to start her up! I was stoked to get out on track in a LHD drive car, especially Victor\u2019s built Silvia!

Me tomo menos de una vuelta sentirme super c\u00f3modo en el S14 de Victor. Su auto tiene un chassis muy bueno y esta equipado con un RB25 con unos 460WHP.<\/p>\n

It took me less then a lap to feel super comfortable in Victor\u2019s S14. His car is a well built chassis equipped with a fully built RB25 making about 460WHP.

Inmediatamente sal\u00ed a hacer tandems con otros pilotos. Aqu\u00ed persigo a Jochy en la parte r\u00e1pida del trazado!<\/p>\n

I immediately started to running tandem with the other drivers. I am chasing down Jochy in the high-speed section of the track!

\n\"\"<\/p>\n

Siguiendo a Jochy en la parte estrecha y t\u00e9cnica de la pista. Esta es una de las partes mas emocionantes de la pista. El auto que sigue puede aplicar presi\u00f3n al l\u00edder, creando as\u00ed un gran show y el publico lo adora!<\/p>\n

Following Jochy going into the tight and technical portion of the track. This is one of the most exciting sections of the track. The chase car can really apply the pressure to the lead car making for a great show and the crowd loves it!

Juanchy en su BMW E36 4 puertas estaba justo en mi puerta, su carro es r\u00e1pido! Y tambi\u00e9n suena bastante bien con su motor M3 aspirado!<\/p>\n

Juanchy in his 4 door E36 BMW right on my door, his car was fast! It also sounds cool with his built NA M3 motor.

Cuando llegue de a los pits luego de mi primera sesi\u00f3n con el auto de Victor, le dec\u00eda a Efrain lo tanto me gusto manejar este auto y lo c\u00f3modo que me sent\u00ed en el! Tambi\u00e9n le di consejos a Victor y su equipo para ayudarlo con los seteos de suspensi\u00f3n, presi\u00f3n de gomas y alineaci\u00f3n. Esto hizo el auto mas f\u00e1cil de manejar. Ademas pudimos ajustar el auto para que tenga mejor tracci\u00f3n, mejor agarre delante y que fuera mas r\u00e1pido. A Victor le gustaron los cambios y hizo mas f\u00e1cil para el manejar el auto!<\/p>\n

Here I am after I came into the pits from doing my first session in Victor\u2019s car. I was telling Efrain how much I loved driving his car and how comfortable I felt in it! I also gave advice to Victor and his team to help him dial in his suspension settings, air pressures and alignment. This really made it easier to drive the car. We were also able to set the car up so it would have much more grip, forward bite and be faster. Victor really liked these new settings and it made it much easier for him to drive the car!

Una ultima foto manejando el auto de Victor! Estaba triste que no pude hacer tandem con muy buen amigo Jhonnattan Castro. Desafortunadamente sus gomas aun no habian llegado a la pista y tenia problemas con su auto! Much\u00edsimas gracias a Victor por permitirme manejar su carro un buen rato. Me encanto manejarlo y ayudarte con el seteo!<\/p>\n

One last picture of me driving Victor\u2019s car! I was sad I didn\u2019t get to tandem with my good friend Jhonnattan Castro. Unfortunately his tires hadn\u2019t shown up at the track yet and he was having car issues! Big thanks to Victor for letting me drive his car a whole bunch. I loved driving it and enjoyed helping him dial it in!

Aqu\u00ed estoy en el auto de Gustavo, es un Toyota Soarer. Gustavo me dijo que saliera a hacer drift en su auto pero “olvido” decirme que no tenia frenos! De todas maneras, quien necesita frenos para hacer drift? jaja!<\/p>\n

Here I am sitting in Gustavo\u2019s Toyota Soarer. Gustavo told me to go drift his car but \u201cforget\u201d to tell me that his brakes don\u2019t work! Who needs brakes to drift anyways! Haha.

El Domingo era la clasificaci\u00f3n y la competencia del Top 16. Yo era el juez de la linea y fui muy especifico con lo que quer\u00eda que cada piloto ejecutara en la pista. Converse uno a uno con varios pilotos para aclarar lo que exactamente quer\u00eda.<\/p>\n

So on Sunday there was qualifying and the Top 16 competition. I was the line judge and was very specific on how I wanted each driver to execute the course. I spoke with many drivers one on one to clarify what I was exactly looking for.

Ya que la torre de los jueces estaba en medio de la pista y lejos de los pits, pude manejar este R33 desde y hacia los pits! Tambi\u00e9n lo use para manejar por el trazado para modificar o cambiar algunos clipping points y zonas de clips, para as\u00ed adaptarlos a la linea natural de drift de los pilotos.<\/p>\n

Since the judge\u2019s tower was out in the middle of the track and far away from the pits, I got to drive this R33 to and from the pits! I also used it drive around the track and change\/modify some clipping points and clipping zones to better suit the driver\u2019s natural drift line.

Entonces tome el R33 para unas vueltas de prueba y asegurarme que todos los clipping points estaban listos!<\/p>\n

Then I took the R33 out to go do a few test laps and make sure all of the clipping points were good to go!

Victor d\u00e1ndole como es! Mis seteos parec\u00edan realmente ayudarlo!<\/p>\n

Victor killin\u2019 it! My new settings seemed to really help him out!

Muchos de los pilotos en la Serie Dominicana de Drift son muy h\u00e1biles. Como pueden ver en esta foto Jochy esta justo en la puerta de Eugenio entrando a la parte lenta y t\u00e9cnica de la pista. En muchos de los tandems, ambos pilotos lograron muy buenas corridas al seguir y liderar. No hab\u00edan muchas batallas con alguna victoria aparente. Como Juez esto realmente me hizo ver con detalle cada batalla y buscar las peque\u00f1as imperfecciones o correcciones que hiciera cada piloto. Ser un Juez aqu\u00ed fue dif\u00edcil!<\/p>\n

Many of the drivers that compete in the Dominican Drift Series are very skilled. As you can see in the picture Jochy is right on Eugenio\u2019s door going into the tight and technical section of the track. In many of the tandem battles both drivers would throw down great lead\/chase runs. There weren\u2019t many battles where it was really apparent that one driver won over another. As a judge this made me really have to look deep into each battle and look for the little tiny imperfections or corrections that were made by the drivers. Being a judge here was difficult!!

This is Victor and his girlfriend Audrey. Audrey drifts a white Silvia and is the first girl drifter in the Dominican Republic. Rad!

Este es Jochy a la izquierda y Hector a la derecha. Jochy conduce el del S15 que use y se llevo el primer lugar! Hector esta haciendo un tremendo S14 con un V8. Me dijo que la proxima vez que vuelva sera mi carro a manejar! No puedo esperar!<\/p>\n

This is Jochy on the left and Hector on the right. Jochy drives the white s15 that I drove and took first place! Hector is building a dope s14 Silvia with a v8. He said next time I come back it\u2019ll be my car to drive! I can\u2019t wait!

\nEn general la pase increible en Republica Dominicana! Fue genial conocer tanta gente cool! Gracias a la Serie Dominicana de Drift por hacer posible el viaje para mi y todos los que fueron parte de esto! No puedo esperar volver!<\/p>\n

Overall I had an amazing time in the Dominican Republic! It was great getting to meet all of you really cool people! Thank you to the Dominican Drift Series for making this trip possible for me and everyone that was apart of it! I cannot wait to come back!
